Interest in eating fresh local produce and meats has made farmer’s markets very popular. According to the Farmers’ Market Coalition, the number of farmer’s markets has grown from just under 2,000 in 1994 to more than 8,600 that are currently registered in the United States Department of Agriculture Farmers’ Market Directory.

Farmers markets allow personal connections to develop between farmers and shoppers. Also, by cutting out the middleman, farmers receive more food dollars, shoppers receive the freshest locally grown food, and local economies thrive.

Farmers Markets in the Wilson County area offer a number of vendors offering locally grown produce, meats, cheeses, other food items and great locally made items.
